The year’s most festive season saw a flurry of exciting
events at JW Marriott destinations around the globe.
JW MARRIOTT VENICE RESORT & SPA OPENS IN GRAND STYLE
For centuries, it has ignited the imagination
of poets, artists, composers and dreamers.
And with good reason, for Venice—complete
with its serpentine canals, exquisite architecture and distinctive cuisine—is unlike any
other city in the world; it’s a magical place
that never fails to impress with unapologetic
grandeur. Which is why when it was time to
celebrate the official grand opening of the
JW MARRIOTT VENICE RESORT & SPA, the
two-day event had to be nothing short of
spellbinding. Over 300 guests were invited
to immerse themselves in the treasured
traditions of the Venetian lagoon’s most
inspiring islands, including Sant’Erasmo, the
famed vegetable island; Burano, which is
home to the delicate art of lacemaking; and
Murano, where the tradition of glassmaking
On Isola delle Rose (Rose Island), the private
sanctuary in the Venetian lagoon that the new
resort calls home, guests enjoyed a cocktail
reception at Sagra Rooftop Restaurant, savoring
rose martini cocktails garnished with fragrant
petals, followed by a spectacular gala dinner.
With music curated by renowned DJ Rob da
Bank, and a deconstructed orchestra featuring
premier violinist Lizzie Ball and the Classical
Kicks, the gala event enticed all the senses and
brought the traditions of Venice to life.
Each immersive and culinary experience
told the stories of the Venetian lagoon while
showcasing the 40-acre island, which includes
beautifully landscaped gardens and olive
groves as well as four restaurants, four bars,
a cooking school and wine academy, a rooftop pool area overlooking St. Mark’s Square,
a restored 19th-century church and the largest
spa in Venice.
