TALL DREAMS COME TRUE IN DUBAI
Host to many VIPs since it opened nearly two years ago, the
JW MARRIOTT MARQUIS DUBAI welcomed a very special guest
to help make a very special wish come true—to spend a night in
the world’s tallest hotel. 12-year-old Mahamad, who suffers from a
serious illness, spent not just one night but an entire week in the
hotel’s Penthouse Suite with his family, as the hotel team united
with Make-A-Wish Foundation to make his stay a surprise-filled
and memorable experience. Mahamed also visited the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa; one of Dubai’s famous water parks; and
the desert. The hotel team added other crafted touches, such as
a Harry Potter cake (Mahamad’s favorite), a pizza-making class
in Positano Italian restaurant, and a dedicated table in Kitchen 6
restaurant for a daily family breakfast. By the end of the week,
Mahamad made friends with many of the hotel’s 1,450 associates,
who greeted him by name.
PHUKET TURTLE SHELTER OPENS
AT JW RESORT
The Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation broke ground on the
Marine Turtle Shelter & Education Center, a new facility located
on-site at JW MARRIOTT PHUKET RESORT & SPA that will
be dedicated to the protection and conservation of Phuket’s
endangered sea turtles. The groundbreaking honor was given
to a group of 20 children and their parents from the Gecko
Community School in Thalang, Phuket, who have been learning
about endangered marine species and are on a mission to raise
awareness of sustainable marine tourism. The resort is the first in
Asia-Pacific to have such a facility situated on-site, allowing resort
guests and the general public to see and interact with the turtles.
