Welcomes BAFTA Honorees
From Hollywood to London, the movie industry follows the red carpet through a litany
of awards shows, including the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts)
Awards, described by many as British film’s biggest night of the year. Hosting a number
of award winners for the official BAFTA Dinner and After Party was the JW MARRIOTT
LONDON GROSVENOR HOUSE, which welcomed stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, who collected
the award for Best Actor in 12 Years a Slave, Cate Blanchett, who was named Best
Actress for her performance in Blue Jasmine, and Dame Helen Mirren, who collected the
Fellowship Award presented by His Royal Highness Prince William.
Celebrating Miami’s Art Deco
In Miami, Art Deco reigns in the soft sherbet shaded buildings
that line both South Beach and Miami Beach. During Miami
Art Week 2013, the retro cool design style also held court at
the JW MARRIOTT MARQUIS MIAMI, where JW partner
Christie’s presented a pre-sale exhibition of 20th Century
Decorative Arts and Design, and Ettore Sottsass: Important
Works from a Private Collection. Both collections, unique for
their integration of 20th century furniture, jewelry, drawings
and decorative objects, featured important works by Antoni
Gaudí, Jean-Michel Frank, Eugene Printz, Jean Royère, Isamu
Noguchi, Fernando and Humberto Campana, and Claude
Lalanne. This is the fourth consecutive year that the hotel and
Christie’s have collaborated on a highly curated art experience
during Miami’s world-renowned Art Basel week.
JW Marriott Ihilani Ko Olina
Says “Aloha” to the NFL
When the season’s done they play for fun, which is why the best
players from the National Football League (NFL) descended on
Oahu for the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl and a break from winter’s chill
at the JW MARRIOTT IHILANI KO OLINA RESORT & SPA.
Guests enjoyed mingling with players throughout the luxury
resort’s public spaces, and players were thrilled to break away
from frigid weather and enjoy the property’s tropical amenities,
pools, spa and white sandy beaches. The game itself was much
more competitive and entertaining than in years past, which
provided the perfect ending to the NFL’s week in paradise.
