JWM MAGAZINE 86
PACKAGES + EXTRAS
In 1984, J.W. “Bill” Marriott Jr. set out to build the single best hotel of his career as a legacy to his father—J. Willard Marriott—who had built his expanding hospitality empire from a fledgling root beer stand in Washington, D.C. Thus, a hotel
forged out of the love and pride between an innovative hotelier
and the visionary who taught him everything he knew took root
in 1984, when J. Willard attended the opening of the first hotel
bearing his name in the same city where it all began.
This year, as JW Marriott Hotels celebrates its 30th
anniversary, we look back to understand the breadth of where
we’ve been and the global expanse of where we’ve traveled.
From the first JW to open outside of the United States in Hong
Kong in 1989, to more recent openings in Dubai, Hanoi and
throughout India and China, JW has entranced guests with its
unique brand of luxury. More importantly, it’s where we are
going that puts us in a celebratory mood. The JW Marriott
portfolio will expand to intriguing destinations like Venice, Italy;
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and Kunming City, China. JW guests—
who are masters at the art of living—will find even more places
that share their passion for good food, great wine, authentic
surroundings and a kind of luxury that cannot be possessed—it
can only be experienced.
